TUITION
Acoustic Guitar
The acoustic guitar is my main instrument, and one which I am most comfortable playing. I love singer/songwriter music in all its forms, especially folk, pop, indie, country, blues and rock. I have looked to emulate some of my favourite fingerstyle players including Newton Faulkner, Jon Gomm, Eric Roche and Andy McKee. I sometimes play with a pick and sometimes not, depending on the song. I love finding interesting chords and marrying them up with a nice vocal – it is amazing what the acoustic guitar can accomplish in terms of the range of material available. I am comfortable teaching up to Grade 5 level, and the lessons are likely to branch off in many different, fascinating directions.
Singing
Nothing in life unlocks quite as much joy for me as singing. I have performed all over the world in a range of different guises, sometimes as the front man, sometimes singing harmonies and sometimes as part of an ensemble. As a tutor, I’m looking to make the most of and harness the powerful feeling you experience when onstage. Everyone should have their chance to feel this!
My favourite vocalists are Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder and Carole King, and there are countless others that I admire. I can teach up to Grade 5; I can’t wait to get started with you, reliving your favourite tunes and bringing them to life.
Electric Guitar
I have enjoyed many memorable nights on electric guitar as part of cover and original bands, and the instrument remains a firm favourite for me. I love the lush clean sounds of players such as John Mayer, but also have a fondness for heavier music by bands such as The Who and Oasis.
The electric guitar is able to cover many different genres in varying styles, so we will look to work on the ones that appeal to you most. I can teach beyond intermediate level to Grade 5, and will push you further if we can manage it!

Pricing
Lessons are £45 each and last for one hour.
If you book a block of five (£225), your sixth lesson is free of charge.
Booking a block in this way reduces the cost per lesson to £37.50.

SONGWRITING
Writing songs is a big part of my life. I have been composing and releasing original music for more than a decade. This includes an EP with the Kazans (Them Girls, 2014), charity single Silence Breaking Through Sound (2015), solo EP Strings Attached (2016), single Here We Go Again (2017), I Want You EP with LOZT (2018) and another charity single, this time for the NHS – Key Worker (2020).
With the Kazans I’m particularly proud of the singles Alicia Keys and Waste This Day. Silence Breaking Through Sound raised more than £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and Strings Attached was named BBC Introducing Track of the Week, with airplay across the network.
I’m very open to collaborations and co-writes, and I’m dedicated to the art of making music.
